Backache is the most common disease in any modern society. It is the second most common reason for doctor’s visit. Long working hours & sitting on unergonomic chairs – results in Bad Sitting Posture: The main cause of Back pain. The digital era has shrunk the world into a global village. This has changed the work culture around the globe. Also, several options of entertainment are available to the modern man at the click of a mouse. This has led to sedentary lifestyle. People have forgotten the joy of taking a brisk walk & exercising. See how it affects our spine
Coccydynia / Tailbone Pain
Coccyx or tailbone is the triangular bony structure located between the buttocks. Pain in or around the area of the coccyx is called coccydynia. Lots of youth complain about the severe pain while sitting, riding bikes and driving.
Cervical spondylosis is a disorder in which there is abnormal wear on the cartilage and bones of the neck (cervical vertebrae). It is a common cause of chronic neck pain. The nearby muscles, ligaments, and nerves may become irritated by these degenerative changes which can cause troublesome symptoms.
may need to wear a soft cervical collar or neck brace to limit neck motion to relieve nerve irritation.
Foot Complications
The end of the leg on which a person normally stands and walks is called the foot. The foot is an extremely complex anatomic structure made up of 26 bones and 33 joints that must work together with 19 muscles and 107 ligaments to execute highly precise movements. At the same time, the foot must be strong to support more than 100,000 pounds of pressure for every mile walked. Even small changes in the foot can unexpectedly undermine its structural integrity and cause pain with every step. In addition, there are 2,50,000 sweat glands. Common foot problems are foot odor & foot pain.
Diabetic Foot
Diabetic foot is a problem which usually occurs in chronic diabetic patients. Patient of diabetic foot loses sensation at their feet and are unable to notice any stimulation at their feet. Very often diabetic foot patient develop non healing ulcers at their feet. These foot ulcers further convert into gangrene and foot amputation becomes an inevitable choice.
Foot Pain
A normal person takes 8,000-10,000 steps per day. The force due to weight of the body is called load. Both the feet bear load that is equal to the 50% greater than the body weight. The foot functions as one link in a biomechanical kinetic chain, where movement at one joint influences movement at other joints in the chain. As the base of this chain, the foot is subject to the forces of ground contact with every step, cushioning the body on landing and launching the frame forward immediately thereafter. When the foot hits the ground, a series of events extending throughout the body is set into motion. The weight bearing foot (so often the "smoking gun" behind disorders of the knees, hips, pelvis, and back) may be the source of the problem. 75% of persons experience foot pain at some point in life. The main causes of foot complications is diabetes, high-heeled shoes, poor fitting shoes, high impact exercises & prolonged standing jobs, congenital defects, pregnancy etc.
Foot Odour
Foot odor or smelly feet are the result of sweaty feet. Some people have higher rate of foot perspiration than others. The feet and hands contain more sweat glands than any other part of the body (about 3,000 glands per square inch) and provide a ready supply of perspiration.
The phenomenon of sweaty palms is common, but sweat on hands doesn't produce the same strong odor as sweaty feet. That's because hands are usually exposed to the air and the sweat has a chance to evaporate.
Hypertrophic Scarring: The affected area has significant overgrowth and gradually turns from red to black. A pronounced itching sensation is a constant irritant for the patient.
Knee Pain
Knee pain is one of the most common musculoskeletal complaints that bring people to their doctor. Knee pain is a commonly occurring problem in arthritis, post knee surgery and due to sports injury. The inflammation of knee joint occurs in many indications where pain and swelling are the major issues. The compression at knee joint improves the blood circulation and also helps in reduction of swelling.
Joints Pain
Joint pain can be caused by many types of injuries or conditions. No matter what causes it, joint pain can be very bothersome.
Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disorder that causes stiffness and pain in the joints. Osteoarthritis involves growth of bone spurs and degeneration of cartilage at a joint. It is very common in adults older than 45 and can cause joint pain.
Shoulder Injuries
The shoulder is the most movable joint in the body. However, it is an unstable joint because of the range of motion allowed. Shoulder dislocation and fracture of clavicle, scapula and humerus are the common injuries at shoulder leading to the instability at shoulder joint. Fractures at shoulder joints are usually treated with a sling or shoulder immobilizer.
ABD. Surgery / Hernia
Abdominal surgery broadly covers surgical procedures that involve opening the abdomen. The abdominal muscles often weakens after surgery and gives an uncomfortable feeling to the patient while transfers and mobility. There are chances that the intestinal content bulges out of abdominal wall resulting in Hernia. The support is required at abdominal region for better recovery and prevention of hernia.
